My American Idol
I focus on music, not lyrics. I'm one of those people that will really like a song but have no idea what the words are. I like Beck and Radiohead and Cake, and I don't think you can enjoy those artists if you are lyrics-oriented. Lyrics are just syllables that allow for vocals. When I have noticed lyrics, they are usually all metaphorical and existential and stuff. Until now. Driving home from work a couple of weeks ago, I realized that I completely identified with the words I was hearing on the radio. It was Kelly Clarkson. I am not sure what to make of this. I am so ashamed and confused. Don't hate me.
